The verdict

If you’re travelling with kids or just want somewhere reliably open with decent food, Windsor & Eton Brewery is the safe choice — different vibe from the arches, more family-oriented, and more likely to actually be serving food when you arrive.

If you want a younger, livelier atmosphere without children around, head to the railway arches. Two Flints and Indie Rabble are genuinely similar in feel — both in converted arches, both busy, both good quality — but if you’re choosing on beer alone, Two Flints edges it for me. Depends on what you’re after: Two Flints for the beer, Indie Rabble if live music’s part of the plan.

The Two Brewers isn’t really in competition with the other four — it’s a stop for atmosphere and history, not range. Go for the setting, not the tap list.

The Corner House is the one to remember if you’re out late — best cider in town, and open when everything else has called last orders. We proved that ourselves coming back from Ascot at half ten at night.

The Corner House Windsor — packed bar with crowd at the taps at night
The Corner House at half ten on a Saturday — the right call after a long day out.
Sunday roast at The Corner House Windsor — Yorkshire pudding, beef and a tall cider
Sunday roast at The Corner House — burgers and Sunday lunch both solid, and well-priced for Windsor.
