Streets & Taps (“we”, “us”) is a personal travel blog run by Olesia and Ian Chamberlain, based in the United Kingdom. Our website address is https://streetsandtaps.com. This page explains what personal data we collect, why, and what your rights are.
What we collect and why
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, approximate location, device type). Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner (provided by CookieYes). The data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can decline or withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings icon.
Newsletter and app waitlist
If you subscribe to our newsletter or join the app waitlist, we store the email address you provide (via the MailPoet plugin, on this website’s own server) solely to send you the emails you asked for. We do not sell, share or use your address for anything else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to delete your address at any time via the contact page.
Comments
When you leave a comment we collect the name, email address and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. If you tick the save box, your details are stored in browser cookies for your convenience so you do not have to re-enter them. These cookies last one year.
Embedded content
Posts may include embedded content (for example maps or videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website, which may collect data about you and use its own cookies.
How long we keep data
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised. Newsletter and waitlist addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do any of these, contact us through the contact page.
Where your data goes
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Analytics data is processed by Google. Newsletter data stays on this website’s server (hosted by Hostinger in the EU).
